This is setup information for a Netopia R3100 ISDN router.

These instructions assume a default configuration as well as enabling Network Address Translation (NAT).

THIS ALSO ASSUMES YOU ARE RUNNING FIRMWARE VERSION 4.8 OR HIGHER.

To enter data in the fields, you either type directly into the field and press the ENTER key or you hit the ENTER key in the field and use the TAB key to choose from a selection.

This is the Main Menu. Highlight "Easy Setup..." and hit the ENTER key.

CIRCUIT TYPE...
Select "ISDN, Switched".

SWITCH TYPE...
The most common setting is "National ISDN-1 (NI-1)". Contact your phone company to verify your switch type. Selecting "Auto-Detect" may not always work.

DIRECTORY NUMBER 1:
Enter the "phone number" section of your first SPID here. It is in the format "352xxxxxxx".

SPID 1:
Enter the first SPID number here. It is in the format "352xxxxxxx1111". The four digit extension on the end will sometimes say "...0101".

DIRECTORY NUMBER 2:
Enter the "phone number" section of your second SPID here. It is in the format "352xxxxxxx".

SPID 2:
Enter the second SPID number here. It is in the format "352xxxxxxx1111". The four digit extension on the end will sometimes say "...0101".

PBX Prefix:
Leave blank. If you are going through a PBX system, consult your PBX documentation to verify what information you need to put this field.

DATA LINK ENCAPSULATION...
Set to "PPP".

Highlight NEXT SCREEN and hit the ENTER key.

NUMBER TO DIAL:
Set to "352xxxxxxx".

ADDRESS TRANSLATION ENABLED:
Set to "Yes" if you receive a static IP address from Junctionbox.

ADDRESS TRANSLATION ENABLED:
Set to "No" if you receive a routed subnet from Junctionbox.

IP ADDRESSING...
Set to "Numbered" if you receive a static IP address from Junctionbox.

IP ADDRESSING...
Set to "Unnumbered" if all you get is a username and password from Junctionbox. (The LOCAL WAN IP ADDRESS and LOCAL WAN IP MASK fields below will not be available with this setting.

LOCAL WAN IP ADDRESS:
Set to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" is the static IP address given by Junctionbox.

LOCAL WAN IP MASK:
Set to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" is the netmask given by Junctionbox.

REMOTE IP ADDRESS:
Set to "127.0.0.2".

REMOTE IP MASK:
Set to "255.255.255.0".

PPP AUTHENTICATION...
Set to "PAP".

SEND USER NAME:
Enter the username given by Junctionbox.

SEND PASSWORD:
Enter the password given by Junctionbox.

Highlight NEXT SCREEN using your arrow keys and hit the ENTER key.

ETHERNET IP ADDRESS:
Set to "192.168.1.1" This will be your Default Gateway for machines on your LAN. If you get a routed subnet from Junctionbox, this will be configured with one of the IP addresses on your routed subnet.

ETHERNET SUBNET MASK:
Set to "255.255.255.0". If you get a routed subnet from Junctionbox, this will be configured with the netmask indicated by Junctionbox for your routed subnet.

DOMAIN NAME:
Leave this field blank.

PRIMARY DOMAIN NAME SERVER:
Set to "65.32.12.117".

SECONDARY DOMAIN NAME SERVER:
Set to "24.164.6.36".

DEFAULT IP GATEWAY:
Set to "127.0.0.2".

IP ADDRESS SERVING:
If you're going to use DHCP, set this to "On". When you do it'll present 2 additional fields. Set the NUMBER OF CLIENT IP ADDRESSES: to 100.

Set the 1ST CLIENT ADDRESS: number to 192.168.1.x with "x" being a number between 2 and 99. Everything below "x" will be your static pool.

Highlight NEXT SCREEN using your arrow keys and hit the ENTER key.

WRITE ACCESS NAME
Enter a username in this field that is no more than 11 characters long. This will be your admin access username. It will ask for this username whenever you telnet or serial connect to the router.

WRITE ACCESS PASSWORD
Enter a password in this field. This will be your access password. It will ask for this password whenever you telnet or serial connect to the router.

Highlight RESTART DEVICE and hit the ENTER key.

When the router restarts, it will take a minute or so to synchronize the SPIDS. After it is synchronized, you will see the READY label on the front of the router turn GREEN.
