CONFIGURATION INFORMATION FOR A LINKSYS DSL/Cable ROUTER
The following shows the step by step procedure on how to configure your Linksys router to work with your connection.
NOTE: Junctionbox provides the information below as a convenience to our customers. We do not provide technical support for the Linksys router. If you need further assistance with the router beyond what is provided on this page, you can contact Linksys at 800.326.7114 or Linksys.
PRE-SETUP: Connect to one of the ports on the back of the Linksys as directed in the manual. Launch your browser and point it to http://192.168.1.1 as directed in the manual.
Fields in the screenshots that are not uniquely addressed should be left exactly the way they are.
STEP 01:
Log in. The default password is "admin". There is no username.

STEP 02:
Configure the following fields. Click the "Apply" button when done.

ROUTER NAME:
You can call the router any name you like. We've used "linksys" for this example.
DOMAIN NAME:
Put your domain here. If you do not have one, you can leave this field blank.
SPECIFY AN IP ADDRESS:
This is where you enter your static IP address that Junctionbox has given you for your account.
DEFAULT GATEWAY ADDRESS:
This will be the same as your static IP address except that the last number is "1".
PPPoE:
This should remain disabled.
STEP 03:
Change your default password to something other than "admin". Click the "Apply" button when done.

STEP 04:
By default, DHCP is enabled in the router. You can configure this feature at your own discretion. Click the "Apply" button when done.

STEP 05:
This screen is where you open ports on the router if you have services running behind it that you need to become available to the internet. Click the "Apply" button when done.
